The Wisconsin Ayrshire Junior Association, led by President Emily Schmidt, extends heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Dalton and her family for their generous donation in memory of John. The letter highlights John’s lasting impact on the Ayrshire breed and his dedication to mentoring the next generation, sharing a personal story of how he helped young showmen succeed and instilled valuable life lessons.

Hello Ayrshire enthusiasts! My name is Emily Schmidt, and I am honored to serve as your 2024-2025 Wisconsin Ayrshire Queen.

I am the daughter of Steve and Pauline Schmidt, and the granddaughter of Perry and Dorthy Moyer. My parents, sister (Rebecca), and I own and operate Moy-Ayr Farm. Our farm is located in southeast Wisconsin and is home to roughly 20 Ayrshire cattle. Throughout the year we enjoy showing them at the Local, State and National level.

In the fall, I will be a Senior at Whitewater High School where I am involved in several clubs. This year I was elected as the Vice President of the Whitewater FFA. In addition, I am currently serving as the Wisconsin Ayrshire Junior Association President. Also, I am a representative of the Walworth County Junior Dairy group. I am currently employed part-time at Sunshine Genetics where I get the opportunity to work with astonishing genomic and type animals. As well as great, professional people.

As the show season is in full swing, it has been a privilege to be able to represent the Ayrshire breed at various events. In April, I had the opportunity to pass out awards at the Wisconsin Dairy Showcase alongside our National Ayrshire Ambassador, Lydia Rasmussen. In May, I had the pleasure of representing our breed at the Midwest Quality Colors Spring Show. I was able to stand beside the pristine Peyton Voegeli, the Wisconsin Brown Swiss Queen, as we passed out various awards throughout the day. Recently in June, I had the opportunity to travel to the National Ayrshire Convention held in Fremont, Ohio. It was great to be able to communicate with Ayrshire breeders from across the United States!

I look forward to continuing to connect with Ayrshire enthusiasts at upcoming shows and events. Look for me at the Wisconsin Junior State Fair, Wisconsin Summer Championship Show, Walworth County Fair, and World Dairy Expo! Do not hesitate to reach out or say Hi. I am always eager to talk about anything Ayrshire.

Sincerely,

Emily Schmidt
